when i’m out of my mind,
i go to infinity,
the place of answers.
i’ve died several times,
physically,
spiritually and emotionally
i’ve gone to infinity,
the place of asking questions.
questions i’ve been
asking my whole life,
questions i forgot
i was even asking.
meaningful questions.
questions that impact
my sense of self.
questions that gently bubble to the surface
when i’m out of my mind.
i’ve gone to infinity,
the place of answers.
answers illuminated.
answers that existed
there all the time.
answers hidden in shadows
created by ego.
answers blurred by rules
implied or imposed.
near-death is consciousness rebooted.
near-death freed me from stories(lies)
i’ve been telling myself.
near-death embodies dark interplay
between fear-of-death
and thrill-of-life.
life creates beauty.
life reanimates nature.
life is seeing spirit
in every thing.
life is feeling threads of connection.
near-death is one way
to alter perception,
there are many others:
isolate. experience solitude.
breathe, listen to the stars,
observe nature. meditate.
converse with elders
consider their wisdom.
eat mushrooms or cacti,
run a marathon,
bang on a drum,
dance all night.
plant a garden, paint, sculpt,
write, compose.
do it in community,
do it with intent.
do it to heal,
do it to celebrate.
accept it as illumination,
treat it as sacred.
when you’re out of your mind,
go to infinity,
with your deepest questions.
go to infinity
and live in eternity
with your own answers.
